Ts.Sukhbaatar: Policy is turning towards Russia over the West

Mr.Putin has paid a half day visit to Mongolia. Although it was a short visit it covered a wide spectrum, according to observers. As a diplomat, what was your observation?

It is a very important principle to keep friendly and good relations with our two eternal neighbors. In this sense, the Russia’s Prime Minister’s visit was beneficial and it gave a stimulus to expand the bilateral relations. However, there are some points to consider.

The more Russia’s economy grows and its military force strengthens the more its relations with other powers are becoming tense. It is  demonstrating an attitude of super power. Its relations with the USA are likely to escalate. As it is gaining more economic power it is starting to adjust its policies with immediate neighboring countries. Its foreign policy started focusing on recapturing its influence and restoring its former authority.
