Y. Otgonbayar appointed Deputy Director of Badrakh Energy

Y. Otgonbayar served as Mongolia's ambassador to the United States from 2017 to 2022, retiring before the end of his term. He has also served as a Member of Parliament and Minister of Education, Culture, and Science.

Badrakh Energy is an international uranium mining company. Thirty-four percent of the company is owned by the Government of Mongolia through Mon-Atom LLC, while the French state-owned Orano Group owns 66 percent. Orano appoints the company’s executive director, and the Government of Mongolia appoints the deputy director. The Mongolian government has announced that it is negotiating with Orano to implement a uranium project and is working to approve the investment agreement during the fall session.
